School animal adoption
Animal adoption is a unique way to bring nature closer to your learner. Adoptions last one year and is a great way for your class, school or group to support our wildlife conservation charity as well providing context for citizenship and sustainable learning activities.
By taking out an adoption with us, you are helping to care for your favourite zoo animals and support the work we do to protect, value and love nature.

Adoption levels
Bronze – £75
- Adoption of your chosen animal within the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland
- 1 x 20-minute virtual Question and Answer with a Discovery and Learning team member at your adopted animal’s enclosure
- Digital Copy of our members magazine
- An adoption certificate and animal photo
- Exclusive access to learning materials and launch the adoption with your group
Silver – £100
- Adoption of your chosen animal within the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland
- 1 x Virtual session from our current offering
- An adoption certificate and photo
- 1 x cuddly toy*
- Digital copy of our members magazine
- Discounted rate of £1 per learner for our onsite learning sessions up to 33 learners
- Inclusion of the school or group name at the enclosure
- Exclusive access to learning materials and launch the adoption with your group
Gold – £295
- Adoption of your chosen animal within the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland
- 1 x 20-minute virtual question and answer with a discovery and learning team member at your adopted animal’s enclosure
- An adoption certificate and photo
- 1 x cuddly toy*
- Digital copy of our members magazine
- 1 x onsite session with our discovery and learning team (up to 60 minutes)^
- Inclusion of the school or group name at the enclosure
- Exclusive access to learning materials and launch the adoption with your group
* RZSS may not be able to provide a cuddly toy of your chosen species but will seek to provide a close match from available options.
^It is recognised that some stages of 2 classes (of upto 33 children) may want to engage in a joint adoption, in such cases we can provide condensed Discovery and Learning Session with both groups, not exceeding a total time allowance of 60 minutes.
If larger multi-class groups are involved there will be and additional charge of £7 per child to facilitate the time with our team.
