Accessibility statement

We want the website to be accessible and usable for as many people as possible. So, we are continually striving to enhance the accessibility and usability of our website. Our efforts include the implementation of:

  • easier-to-read colours and sufficient contrast levels
  • use of plain English to make the website text as simple as possible to understand
  • larger font and zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigation of most of the website using just a keyboard
  • ability to listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver).

Technical Specifications

Accessibility of RZSS relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

  • HTML
  • CSS

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.

Limitations and alternatives

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of RZSS, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.

Known limitations for RZSS:

  1. Embedded Videos: Some embedded videos do not have captions or subtitles. Captions are provided for all pre-recorded audio content in synchronised media, except when the media is a media alternative for text and is clearly labelled as such.
  2.  Audio Description (Pre-recorded): The way the content is presented affects its meaning, and a correct reading sequence is not programmatically determined. This fails WCAG 2.2 AA success criteria 1.2.3 and 1.2.5.
  3. Focus Visible: At 250% zoom and higher, the keyboard focus is not always visible and clear. The focus moves through the hamburger menu links without showing the selected menu link. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.7.

Content not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

  1. Live Video: We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.
