Baby pygmy hippopotamus Haggis beginning to swim at Edinburgh Zoo IMAGE Rhiordan Langan-Fortune 2024

Haggis, the newest pygmy hippo taking the internet by storm, can now be spotted in her habitat at Edinburgh Zoo alongside her mum Gloria.

Visitors to the wildlife conservation charity’s zoo can get a glimpse of Haggis as she becomes bolder, spending more time each day exploring inside.

Pygmy hippos are native to the forests and swamps of West Africa, primarily Liberia. The species is classified as Endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and it is estimated that just 2,500 remain in the wild due to habitat loss.
